When and where will we watch the virtual event?
You can access the Take Back The Light Virtual Event on Saturday, Oct 24 at 7pm EST through our Light The Night website! The day of the event, simply come back to LightTheNight.ca and when the countdown strikes zero, the virtual event will premiere!
You will experience the same magic and inspiration as our in-person events! We’re just as excited as you are!
Will you be mailing lanterns?
This year’s Light The Night will be a combination of a virtual event with in-person local events! Lanterns will be included in “Celebration Kits” and are dependant on the amount you and your team have raised.

Why do I need to register if there isn’t an actual walk?
The blood cancer community needs you more than ever! By registering, you’ll have access to your own fundraising portal where you can share your link and further your impact!
You will also receive the most up to date information related to Take Back The Light and other LLSC programs and services.
How will we get people to donate if we aren’t doing a walk?
When you fundraise, you are directly helping the blood cancer community. Light The Night generates about 60% of our funding for blood cancer research and community programs. It is our single biggest source of revenue.
Government agencies are focusing their funds on COVID-19 research and relief creating a potential shortage of funds for blood cancer research.
Blood cancers didn’t take a pause during the pandemic. Canadians continued to be affected by blood cancers – there were new diagnoses, treatments in progress, continuous demand for information and support, and sadly lives were lost to the disease.
Your donation can ensure a transition to pre-pandemic operations as quickly as possible, onceit is safe to do so.
How will my loved one be recognized in the national virtual event?
Take Back The Light is a celebration of YOU. This is why we’ve made sure every featured story represents the entire blood cancer community.
There are some incredible opportunities to be featured within the virtual event that is dependent on your fundraising impact! Contact your local staff to find out more.
With it being a national virtual event, will there be any opportunities to connect with other local teams?
It’s so important, now more than ever, for our community to unite and feel connected! That’s why there will be a live chat function during the virtual event so everyone, from coast to coast, can comment, chat and share stories!
In addition to this, there will be plenty of local activities that you can participate in! Please contact your local staff to find out how you can qualify for VIP pre-events or how to host a watch party!
Even through a pandemic, the power of community is ever-present!
Without there being an in person event, how do I submit any cash and cheques that I’ve received?
When sharing your fundraising link, donations received online will automatically contribute toward your fundraising goal.
If you are hosting an event, or receive cheques and cash, you can mail them to your nearest LLSC office along with a pledge form with the donor information. You can expect to see these funds on your team page within 2 weeks of receiving.
How will top fundraising teams be recognized?
Every dollar counts in support of the blood cancer community. Your fundraising efforts lead us one step closer to ending blood cancer!
There are multiple ways top teams and individuals will be recognized for their efforts. These opportunities vary from social media shout outs, to celebration kits delivered to your home!
We even have some incredible Facebook Frames available for each fundraising level! Go ahead and brag, you deserve it!
