Will Light The Night be virtual once again this year?
To ensure the safety of all communities, Light The Night will once again be primarily virtual. There will be local in-person opportunities that continue to follow province safety guidelines.
When and where will we watch the broadcast?
You can access the Light The Night Virtual Event on Saturday, Oct 23 through our Light The Night website! The day of the event, simply come back to LightTheNight.ca and when the countdown strikes zero, the broadcast will premiere!
You will experience the same magic and inspiration as our in-person events, because Light The Night is more than a walk!
We’re just as excited as you are!
Will you be mailing lanterns?
This year’s Light The Night will be a combination of a virtual broadcast with in-person local events! Lanterns will be included in “Celebration Kits” and are dependant on the amount you and your team have raised.
Connect with your local staff to find out how you can get a Celebration Kit delivered to you!
Trust us when we say, these kits will blow your socks off!
Why do I need to register if there isn’t an actual walk?
The blood cancer community needs you more than ever! By registering, you’ll have access to your own fundraising portal where you can share your link and further your impact!
You will also receive the most up to date information related to Light The Night’s virtual event and other LLSC programs and services.
How will we get people to donate if we aren’t doing a walk?
When you fundraise, you are directly helping the blood cancer community. Light The Night generates about 60% of our funding for blood cancer research and community programs. It is our single biggest source of revenue.
Blood cancers didn’t take a pause during the pandemic. Canadians continued to be affected by blood cancers – there were new diagnoses, treatments in progress, continuous demand for information and support, and sadly lives were lost to the disease.
In 2020, with the support from people like you, the LLSC was able to provide the most up to date information and resources to the blood cancer community and ensure no one ever felt alone.
How will my loved one be recognized in the virtual event?
Light The Night has always been more than a Walk; it is a celebration of YOU. This is why we’ve made sure every featured story represents the entire blood cancer community.
There will be opportunities in your region to celebrate, honour and commemorate your loved one. Connect with your local staff to find out more!
With Light The Night being a virtual event, will there be any opportunities to connect with other local teams?
It’s so important, now more than ever, for our community to unite and feel connected! That’s why there will be a live chat function during the virtual event so everyone, from coast to coast, can comment, chat and share stories!
In addition to this, there will be plenty of local activities that you can participate in! Please contact your local staff to find out about our pre-show events or how to host a viewing celebration.
Even through a pandemic, the power of community is ever-present!
Without there being an in person event, how do I submit any cash and cheques that I’ve received?
When sharing your fundraising link, donations received online will automatically contribute toward your fundraising goal.
If you are hosting an event, or receive cheques and cash, you can mail them to your nearest LLSC office along with a pledge form with the donor information. You can expect to see these funds on your team page within 2 weeks of receiving.
How will top fundraising teams be recognized?
Every dollar counts in support of the blood cancer community. Your fundraising efforts lead us one step closer to ending blood cancer!
There are multiple ways top teams and individuals will be recognized for their efforts. These opportunities vary from social media shout outs, to celebration kits delivered to your home!
We cannot wait to share the opportunities to showcase your incredible efforts and contributions to accelerate blood cancer cures!
