We share Daphnée’s story to honour the beautiful impact she had on everyone who knew and loved her. As parents who have experienced the loss of a child, we participate in Light The Night® to turn our grief into action and to support research and care for families walking the same path. Through her story, we hope for a future where no family has to experience this loss. We will not stop walking until no other parents have to.
Daphnée Brisebois (May 5, 1995 – July 3, 2017) was a vibrant, kind, and deeply caring young woman whose spirit continues to live on through the many people she touched.
Known for her bright smile and generous nature, Daphnée had a special way of bringing people together. She valued family, friendships, and traditions, and found joy in simple moments, whether spending time with loved ones, sharing meals, or laughing over board games and gatherings.
Creative and curious, Daphnée expressed herself through art and dance, and approached life with both energy and a playful sense of humor. She was thoughtful, resourceful, and always ready to help others. Her love for all animals was beyond compare.
At the age of 22, Daphnée faced her diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Throughout her intense 5-month illness, she tried to remain positive surrounded by the support of her family and friends.
Daphnée’s life, though too short, was full of meaning, connection, and love. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of kindness, generosity, and togetherness.
