My grandpa got diagnosed a little before my 22nd birthday.

My Grandparents

I registered 8 years ago when we found out my grandpa was diagnosed with Leukemia. It was the first time in my life I was exposed to something like this. My grandma passed away from Leukemia as well, but I was only 3 years old. I barely got to know before this cancer took her away from us.

My grandpa got diagnosed a little before my 22nd birthday. It took a month. A month for the cancer to spread and take him to his wife that died from the same thing.

We watched as he became weaker and weaker everyday. He had his days. Some were filled with laughter, some with quietness and tears. But he never gave up. Up until he took his last breath, he fought hard.

Watching someone so close be affected by this cancer made me want to do something. I started walking to help raise awareness and money for all blood cancers. To walk in memory of Balbir and Sohan Saggu. To walk in memory of those who didn’t have a voice.

We will find a cure.
