A Legacy of Love, Strength, and Unshakable Joy

Born and raised in the Philippines, Cristina Del Rosario came to Canada with a heart full of hope and a spirit as warm as the sun. She first made her home in Calgary, where her kindness and generosity quickly shone through. After a brief return to the Philippines to renew her visa, she settled in Leduc — marking the start of a new chapter filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections.

Cristina had a rare gift: the ability to make people feel truly seen. Her generosity went beyond material things — she gave of herself freely and joyfully. With her radiant laugh, listening ear, and boundless heart, she brought people together over coffee, meals, or celebrations, leaving behind a trail of deep friendships across Calgary, Leduc, and the Philippines.

She found joy in fashion, travel, and food, but it was her family who anchored her — the heartbeat behind everything she did. Cristina lived to create memories, discovering new places, savoring new dishes, and soaking in the warmth of conversation with her loved ones.

In 2013, Cristina was diagnosed with Mycosis Fungoides, a rare form of skin lymphoma. Despite the diagnosis, she faced every challenge with remarkable courage and grace. She continued to provide for her family, to gather us, and to love us — never allowing her illness to dim her spirit. Her strength humbled those around her, as she battled through treatments and pain with quiet resilience.

In December 2020, her health began to decline. After months of uncertainty and worsening symptoms, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. In March 2021, Cristina was hospitalized and never returned home. Surrounded by family and loved ones, she passed away on May 1, 2021, at the age of 49. One of her final wishes was to live until 50 — a milestone she just narrowly missed. Her passing left an unfillable void, but her love and strength continue to guide us.

Cristina discovered Light the Night in 2019 and quickly became an active participant, inspiring her family to join the cause. Since her passing, we’ve continued to walk in her honor, carrying forward her legacy through this meaningful work.

Today, we celebrate Cristina’s life — one filled with grace, laughter, and boundless love. Her memory reminds us to be brave, to be joyful, and to love with our whole hearts — just like she did.
