Alayla "The Fighter"
Winnipeg MB
Canada
When my daughter Alayla was diagnosed with Leukemia in November 2016, our world was turned upside down. It was the hardest news to hear as a parent. Telling her young daughters, Skylar and Katy, that their mother was sick was truly heartbreaking, as they were so young and could not fully understand.
Throughout her battle, Alayla was incredibly strong and brave. She never showed her fear and always kept a brave face, earning her the nickname "The Fighter." She had an immense support group and was never alone; someone was always by her side, whether it was me, her siblings, her grandparents, or her many aunts and uncles. Every other weekend when I had her daughters, Katy would ask to visit "mommy’s hospital," and we would go immediately.
Alayla passed away in May 2018. Since then, I have participated in Light The Night to help raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada so that we can one day find a cure. My fundraising efforts have included but not limited to silent auctions, selling orange ribbons at Family Foods, and speaking about our journey during an interview on 99.9 BOB FM.
I am committed to this cause in Alayla’s memory and appreciate your support.
