Melissa's Story - Toronto Corporate Walk Chair 2020
Melissa Nowak is a commercial real estate lawyer at a boutique business law firm located in Downtown Toronto. She spent 12 years working at CBRE Limited, first in New York City, later in Toronto, as an in-house lawyer in capital markets before venturing into private practice.
Melissa’s husband, Bryce, was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in January 2018. In an attempt to direct their fears and nervous energy in a positive direction, Melissa and Bryce signed up for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training and participated in the Hawaii Lavaman Triathlon in 2019, fundraising $11K for the society. This was one of the best decisions they’ve ever made – they found an outlet to demonstrate to friends and families that Bryce is taking charge of his health and fitness and provided them with a way they could help.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has been a tremendous resource for Melissa and Bryce, so now, as members of the Executive Leadership Committee for Light the Night, they hope they can be also be a resource for LLS.
