Dancing and Walking in Support
Ballet Beats is a body-positive community that focuses on health, energy and happiness. They provide an in studio and online fitness program that strives to deepen body awareness and support each of their students in becoming their best selves. The owner and creator of the program, Kalyn Swihart, has been participating in Light The Night for many years, and she has gotten her community involved. Kalyn wanted to find an organization that had a goal in which Ballet Beats could work towards and an event they could be a part of. She realized Light The Night created a community similar to the one she wanted to create at Ballet Beats – a community founded on support and building relationships.
“Every time we do the [Light the Night] walk, we cry we laugh we come together. You get to experience this very special feeling; you’re around survivors, you’re around people who have lost people and you’re around people who are going through it. There is something really special… it feels different. We will support the LLSC in any way we can,” said Kalyn Swihart of Ballet Beats.
“Everyone has to pick something that is authentic to them, and I think we are all in some way shape or form affected by cancer, and I believe there is so much hope in finding a cure through blood cancers that could possibly help all the different forms of cancer that are out there.”
Ballet Beats finds hope in the carriers of the white lanterns – the survivors. Additionally, hope is found for them in every research advancement and believing in the work done by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
