Traction on Demand - Respond Together

Interview with Team Captain Ashwin Sinha with Tania Wybenga, Sr. Manager Community & Fund Development

Interview Traction on Demand – Ashwin Sinha
What was the inspiration for Traction on Demand to get involved with the LLSC and Light The Night?

Traction on Demand is a value and purpose-driven organization; community is central to how we operate. A good example of this is our Time for Good program, where we get two paid days off to volunteer with an organization of our choice. Some employees choose to do individual volunteering, but Light The Night was a great way to get our team involved. We first heard about Light The Night from a team member who brought it to our attention. One of her friends had been diagnosed and treated for blood cancer. She had participated in the walk before and thought it was a good opportunity for us to get involved.

How has LTN contributed to employee engagement or added to the culture of your organization?

We’re living our values at an individual level. After participating in LTN, many people opened up and shared their personal experiences with cancer.

What was the most successful fundraising activity your team executed?

We organized a Wine and Meat Draw (steak, chicken fish, etc.) – where got different meats and did a Survivor type contest. People actually got really excited about it and we managed to raise a decent amount of money for a great cause. We also got our community engagement program, Traction For Good, involved to support our fundraising initiatives.

What are 3 words you would use to describe Light The Night?
Comforting and warm as a community. Loved the lanterns – very beautiful. It was one of the best-organized events I’ve ever attended – all the way through. The route was fantastic.

What would you say to another company considering participating in Light The Night?
They should definitely do it. You come out feeling fresh.

Do you have a message from Traction on Demand for the Blood Cancer Community?
“Respond Together” has been Traction on Demand’s response during this tough time. We’re in this together and we’ll get through this together.

Do you have a story to tell?

As a supporter, in memory, or as a survivor… share with others why you are helping end blood cancers by participating in a Light the Night Walk
