Story of our Remembered Hero Christina Law, written by her husband Edmond Chan

It is with much mixed emotions that I am writing this to honour Christina as a Remembered Hero this year. I am proud that Christina is being remembered by LLSC and its wonderful volunteers and staff; I also feel the sorrow that we now can only remember her because she was cruelly taken away by the disease.

While there is so much to remember about Christina, the most concise way to sum up her legacy is that she was a “net positive person”. Her beloved cousin came up with this smart and fitting description several years ago when Christina was facing the grim prospect of her secondary diagnosis from which a bone marrow transplant was the only hope to extend her life. Hope was always Christina’s driving force and she also gave hope to others while she fought hard against the disease.

Christina fought long and hard against Leukemia; throughout the years I have always regarded her a hero. In fact, Christina was a superhero; perpetual hopeful outlook and infectious positive energy were her superpowers. She was also a hero to the family, especially her dear nieces and nephew; as well as to all her friends and anyone fortunate enough to have the opportunity to know and meet her.
